Indy Urban Acres Farm’s Tyler Gough presented earlier this year at the International Special Events Society Luncheon on March 27th. At that event, ISES members and guests were asked to sign up for a volunteer shift at the farm.
For those of you who do not know what Indy Urban Acres Farm is – it is an 8-acre organic farm that donates 100% of the fresh fruits and vegetables harvested to local food pantries through a partnership with Gleaners Food Bank. If you would like to volunteer, everyone is welcome the first Saturday of each month from 9 am-noon for open volunteering. Along with growing wonderful food – during the summer, Indy Urban Acres hosts Indy Parks day camps and other groups for tours and educational programming.
The FORUM team, Sarah, Rachelle, and Paige, attended the ISES volunteer shift. We helped the farm gear up for their Second Annual Farmraiser that will be happening on September 26th. We, along with Tyler, and two other farm employees raked 50 yards of mulch to make a beautiful walkway. Best quote of the day – “We work together, we attend events together, and we rake manure together!” Rachelle Wood
Hope to see you out on the farm someday!
