On the beautiful clear evening of May 2nd, we hosted Hamilton Height’s 2015 Junior/Senior Prom! Hamilton Heights is a small high school in Arcadia, IN, whose prom’s we have hosted for the past three years, so we were excited to see them back again this year.
The theme for the year was The Great Gatsby, a 1920’s era novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald which was recently turned into a movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Tobey Maguire. The students, parent’s and faculty responsible for the décor did a wonderful job from the balloons to the centerpieces to the cut-out couples in the foyer.
Some of our favorite touches were the mural of the eyes of Doctor T. J. Eckleburg (a literary device in the novel) painted by some of their students, the two photo booths, and the use of our up-lighting in a shade of green, much like another symbol in the book: the green light on Daisy’s dock across the water.
We were also obsessed with the Prom King and Queen crowns; the 1920’s themed Queen crown was so unique!
The DJ’s lights completed the party-ready look, and one of the students came up with the idea of playing the movie on silent in the background, which was the perfect final touch.
The students had a wonderful time, as did we! Thank you to Hamilton Heights for hosting your event with us, and we hope to see you again next year!
Until next time,
